Cave Description: Cave located in a gorge 12 km north of Podgorica.
Research Chronicles and Data: The site of Vruća pećina was first excavated during the late 1980's and early 1990's by members of the Department of Archaeology, University of Belgrade, showing a continuous stratigraphic record from the Bronze Age to the Late Upper Palaeolithic.
During the 2014 field season, the existing profiles were cleaned in order to check the nature of the stratigraphy, and sample all archaeological layers (micromorphology, soil bulk samples, flotation for archaeobotanical remains, bones for radiocarbon dating, and retrieval of all material culture). The corresponding high quality record will constitute a solid scientific basis to be compared to the records from the, still unpublished, older excavations.
